Sen. Mark Kirk to Visit BNSF in Galesburg Wednesday
FIRST REPORTED 3pm 1/17/12 State Representative Don Moffitt has again successfully asked a prominent Illinois lawmaker to tour Knox County's largest employer.

Moffitt will lead U.S. Senator Mark Kirk on a tour of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail yard tomorrow morning -- part of a downstate tour Kirk is currently on.

Moffitt tells WGIL he's managed to get a lot of politicians to tour the yard over the last several years for one reason.

"With all the improvements being made in the yard, and these grade separations, and the entire package, and the third main line that will extend from the yards toward the northeast city limits...all improve the consideration, increase the consideration for this yard," Moffitt said. "If we can do things to cause more expansion here, that is very good news."

The Gilson Republican says every politician, both Republican and Democrat, who's toured the yard has also indicated support for it after doing so, and expects Kirk to do the same.

Moffitt says he also expects to talk with Kirk about other issues while in town, but he declined to say specifically what until after the meeting.
