Congressman Hears an Earful about SOPA
A Congressman representing part of Knox County says so far this year, there's one issue that he's seemingly heard more about than any other.

18th District Republican Aaron Schock says he doesn't support much of the online piracy legislation that was making its way through Congress. Bills like the Stop Online Piracy Act caused sites like Wikipedia to "black out" in protest, and even caused Google to black out its logo on its search engines.

Schock told reporters on a conference call he just doesn't support such legislation because it won't do the job.

"While I believe that copyright infringement is an important issue that needs to addressed online, these are not good pieces of legislation," Shock said. "Which is why I refuse to support them or endorse them, prior to this issue becoming a a hot topic."

Schock says the phones in his office have been, in his words, blowing up from people wanting to know more about such information.

He says many website believe it will infringe on their abilities to communicate and share data, and would create liabilities for sites like Google.

Since yesterday's online protest, some have declared the online piracy legislation as being, quote, "on life support."
