City Council Meets Monday
Demolitions and grant funding are up for consideration by the Galesburg City Council Monday.

Aldermen will consider a $100,000 grant for the electrical system upgrades already under way at the Orpheum Theatre. The City has to approve the money provided through a federal economic stimulus grant issued by the Western Illinois Regional Council because of the city's role in the overall heating, electrical, and air conditioning upgrades at the theatre, since the city is providing money through Tax Increment Financing District funds.

The work is scheduled to be completed next month.

The City Council will also consider taking part in a project upgrading traffic signals along Illinois 41 and U-S 150. Problem is, the city says, the state did not notify the city about the project in time for the 2012 budget process.

There would have to be a budget adjustment if the city wants to fund what would be its $10,000 share of the work.

Engineering services on the West Main Street Overpass project, and three proposed property demolitions, will also be considered as part of Monday's 6:30pm meeting in City Hall.
