Not Guilty Verdict in Assault and Kidnapping Case
A 47-year-old Victoria man accused of aggravated kidnapping and criminal sexual assault was acquitted Monday night of those and five other charges.

Bill Pollock endured a week long trial that went longer than anyone had anticipated. And yet, jurors needed only 58 minutes to agree on a unanimous verdict.

Pollock's ex-girlfriend had accused him of causing almost $9,000 in damage to her pickup truck the night of July 10th. She also alleged he'd abducted her and raped her a week after-- allegations surfacing from a dispute over the two's relationship status.

During closing arguments, Defense Attorney Martin Dewulf argued that the victim's testimony didn't make much sense. He claimed inaccuracies were evident from the trial's start in relation to her written statements at the time of the alleged crimes and her testimony under oath.

He felt also that it was possible the testimony of the victim's daughter was influenced by her mother's own hearsay of the events.

After the verdict was read inside the Knox County Courthouse, Dewulf said he was "extremely happy," and he, "believed in the jury."

Pollock remains jailed pending perjury charges.
