Budget Work Begins Again for City Council
It's back to the battle of the City of Galesburg's budget.

Aldermen will hold the first of several monthly work sessions dealing with the city budget at a meeting being held Monday evening.

City Manager Todd Thompson says the items up for discussion starting Monday will be those items that aldermen couldn't agree on when a budget was passed anyway over a month ago.

"The items that were propsed for elimination, both the Oversize Brush and Lake Storey Beach, and any other outstanding items the council might have relating to cut or expand capital projects," Thompson said.

One of the bigger discussions a month ago had to do with closing Lake Storey Beach. Alderman Ken Goad wanted it left open, but when pressed by Alderman Jeremy Karlin, Goad declined to say what he'd cut instead, saying he didn't have to answer Karlin's question.

Aldermen Monday will also consider a special item brought forward by Intellihot. The company wants to amend its loan agreement with the city so it can raise equity through the sale of preferred stock.

The special city council meeting is at 5:30 Monday night inside council chambers at Galesburg City Hall.
