City Council Looks at Bus Purchase Tonight
An addition to the fleet of the Galesburg Transit service could be made after tonight's Galesburg City Council meeting.

The meeting was moved forward a week to today, due to last week's New Years Day holiday. Aldermen tonight will consider allowing Mayor Sal Garza to sign an agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation, that could result in the 343-thousand dollar purchase of a new bus.

City officials say the grant was first applied for in 2010.

Aldermen tonight will look at different parts of the city's Unified Development Ordinance, and will consider a bid for promotional assessment services for the Galesburg Fire Department when they meet at 6:30 tonight at City Hall.

The Galesburg School Board's regular meeting is tonight. Members there will consider design development work done for the first phase of the new 110-million dollar Master Facilities Plan -- specifically, work done to remodel Lombard Middle School.

The board says the estimated 10-point-3 million dollar cost is so far about 40-thousand dollars under budget. If approved, actual construction drawings will be developed.

The District-205 board meets at seven o'clock tonight at Lincoln School.
