Shooting Starts New Year in Henry County
Police in Henry County say charges may be filed in an early morning shooting incident on New Years Day.

The incident happened in Kewanee, where Police Chief Jim Dison says it happened around 5:50am Sunday in the 500 block of East Prospect Street.

Dison believes the incident occurred because of improper handling of a loaded gun by someone in the home. That someone Dison did not identify.

He says the shooting led to a 23-year old female he also didn't identify being sent to Kewanee Hospital and later to an unidentified hospital in Peoria for treatment of her injuries. Dison believes the woman is now in stable condition.

Dison says the Henry County State's Attorney is reviewing the incident to determine if any charges need to be filed. The shooting is believed to be under investigation.
