IDES Offices Closing In Galesburg
FIRST REPORTED 5:40pm 1/10/2013 According to a press release from the Illinois Department of Employment Security, the employment offices in Galesburg are scheduled to close in mid-March.

The closures, which are taking place in several cities around Illinois, are being blamed on a reduction in federal funding.

The IDES says they are nearly 100 percent federally funded, and due to a reduction in unemployment claims are expected to see funding reduced by 11-million dollars.

IDES says they have already consolidated 10 offices around the state in an effort to save money.

The closing date may not be exact as collective bargaining agreements will affect the closures. IDES says they determined the sites to close based on work-load and "lease considerations."

According to the press release, those with a limited knowledge of technology will be most affected.

Representatives of the Galesburg office could not be reached for immediate comment.

Check back later for further developments.
