Accused Restaurant Robber Makes Court Appearance
A Galesburg man accused of robbing a downtown restaurant almost two weeks ago will get his first chance to make a plea in a few weeks.

29-year old Nathaniel McPherrin made an appearance in Knox County Circuit Court Monday for what was to be a preliminary hearing on felony charges of Armed Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, and Theft.

However, through Public Defender Jim Harrell, McPherrin waived his right to have that hearing, and an arraignment was scheduled for January 30th.

McPherrin was arrested January third after allegedly robbing the Jimmy John's store on East Main Street. McPherrin, whom prosecutors contend is a former employee, allegedly ordered an employee into a refrigerator and demanded money while displaying a gun.

He was found later in the morning at an Elm Street home, thanks in part to a CrimeStoppers tip, and information police received from a woman identified as McPherrin's girlfriend.

McPherrin remains held in the Knox County Jail on $500,000 bond.
