Oneida Home Fire Called Complete Loss
The Oneida/Wataga Fire District responded to the 200 block of North Knox Street in Oneida around 3:30 p-m Tuesday.

Fire crews responded in less than six minutes to the residence where the property owner reportedly escaped without injury. No other injuries were reported.

Responders said they contained the blaze in under an hour and expect to have the scene cleaned up by the end of the night.

The Red Cross is assisting the property owner to ensure they have shelter tonight.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, but fire investigators said only that Ameren assisted in cutting the power to the home in fighting the flames.

The Oneida/Wataga Fire District also received assistance from the Altona and Victoria fire departments.

Investigations are continuing into the nature of the fire, but the incident was described as a complete loss for the home owner.
