No Bond Reduction for Robbery Suspect
A Galesburg man's bond will stay as is as he gets close to a potential trial on a charge of Aggravated Robbery.

Knox County Circuit Court Judge Scott Shipplett Wednesday denied a reduction in the $250,000 bond set in the case of 35-year old Anthony Williams.

Williams was arrested back in October after he allegedly entered the Shell Station on Grand Avenue, stealing money from the cash register and punching an employee before fleeing.

He's also suspected in two other attempted robbery reports that night -- just three days after he was released from prison after serving a sentence on similar charges.

Shipplett cited Williams' criminal history, and the date of the occurrence, in denying Public Defender Jim Harrell's request to lower the bond to $40,000.

Williams testified that he would make all court appearances if released, and would live with family here or in the Rock Island area. He also said he'd enter a drug treatment program if allowed to post bond.

Williams will next be in court for a pre-trial hearing February 4th, with a trial starting as soon as two weeks later.
