Knox Celebrates Martin Luther King Junior
It was a packed house as students, faculty, prospective students and residents came out for Knox's annual Martin Luther King Day Convocation.

The celebration focused on Knox's connection to the work Doctor Martin Luther King carried out and Knox College President Teresa Amott told the crowd.

"Today Knox remains among the most divers liberal arts colleges in the country dedicated to Doctor Kings unfinished project of building an inclusive and beloved community."

Amott expressed to the crowd being able to finish Doctor Kings work is why they host a Martin Luther Convocation every year.

"This is a day in which we shorten every class in order to clear a space to come together as a community to reflect to connect to learn and to be inspired. And today we are inspired by the ideas that Doctor King introduced to this nation through decades of social action, writing, and speaking. Ideas of course which he ultimately gave his life."

The celebration also had poetry readings from Professor and Chair of African Studies Frederick Hord.

The Convocation ended with a sing-a-long of the protest song "We Shall Overcome."
