Housing Authority Looks At Roof Top Repairs
The Knox County Housing Authority is taking a long hard look at replacing the roofs on the three family sites they run.

The plan originally called for work to be done over a three year period, but after closer examination of the cost projections the Housing Authority decided to go into a different direction.

Housing Authorities Executive Director Derek Antonie told to board of Commissioners Tuesday they'd save more money if the projects were done all at the same time, however that would mean the having to spend some of their own funds.

"What that would cause us to do is go into reserves to fund that," says Antonie. "She has approximately $330,000 slated in this year's Cap grant to spend on roofs, according to Rita, she thinks if we do all three in one year, we could be spending right at a million dollars so we'd be looking to dip into reserves for approximately 650 to 700-thousand dollars."

The Housing Authority currently has about $1.4 million in their reserves so they could comfortably dip into those funds without hurting them in the long run.

No action was taken on the matter; Commissioners asked to see a cost projection of a three year plan verses year plan before making any final decision.
