Union Contracts Slated For County Approval
The Knox County Board Wednesday night will consider items which have been in the works for quite some time.

Among the usual items, such as approval of payment to architects and contractors for work on the Knox County Courthouse, are the contracts for County union employees.

The AFSCME union members at the Knox County nursing home, in specific, have been vocal in their support of contracts - picketing board and commission meetings.

Negotiations between the County and the Nursing Home Union were ongoing with a federal mediator late last year.

Specifics on the nature of contract disputes have been kept under wraps, but discussions surrounding wages and retirement have been circulated.

Approval of the State's Attorney's office and the Corrections Unit employees union contracts is also listed on the agenda.

County Board members will also be looking at replacing District 5's vacant board seat after David Serven was found violating state statutes.

Wednesday nights meeting begins at 6 p-m at the Knox County Courthouse.
