2011 Death Ruled to be Meth-Related
FIRST REPORTED 6:00am 1/30/13 The Knox County Coroner's office held an inquest into the deaths of three individuals Tuesday night at the Knox County Courthouse.

Jury members heard evidence from cooperating authorities and test results before deliberating on the deaths of Dustin Hengl, Terrell Allen, and Tundun Lawani.

Hengl was found dead in the summer of 2011 after tests concluded he ingested deadly levels of methamphetamine.

Jurors asked questions after the testimony, apparently trying to eliminate the possibility of a motorcycle accident. A motorcycle was found on the scene in the field Hengl's body was discovered.

Investigator Jason Landers with the Knox County Sheriff's Department says Hengl was found lying about 15 feet from the vehicle.

"There's not the, there's no indication that it was a vehicle at accident. There was a lot of evidence at the scene to suggest it was anything, it was defiantly not a vehicle accident, not a motorcycle crash or anything like that."

Jurors deliberated for more than 35 minutes, making it their longest decision of the night.

Coroner Mark Thomas said that Hengl's body was in a state of decomposition when it was found, making tests on the body difficult.

There was no identification on the body at the time he was found. Jurors ruled Hengl's death to be an accidental overdose by methamphetamine.
