More Details Released in Jimmy John's Robbery; Bond Set
POSTED 2:36pm 1/4/13 It turns out it was a former employee of a downtown Galesburg restaurant who allegedly held the establishment up Thursday morning.

That's according to Knox County State's Attorney John Pepmeyer during a hearing Friday afternoon, where it was learned 29-year old Nathaniel McPherrin is formally being charged with a Class-X felony count of Armed Robbery. He's also charged with lesser felonies of Aggravated Robbery and Theft Over Five-Hundred Dollars.

Pepmeyer told Judge James Standard that McPherrin entered the Jimmy John's on East Main Street before 9am Thursday, knowing that there would only be one employee there.

Pepmeyer alleges that McPherrin displayed a semi-automatic gun and demanded money from a male employee, and that he enter the store's cooler.

A Crime Stoppers tip is believed to have led to McPherrin's arrest, after his girlfriend told investigators that he went to an Elm Street address after the alleged robbery.

That's where investigators found a pair of bank deposit slips. Pepmeyer says McPherrin admitted to committing the crime to investigators.

Standard set bond at a half-million dollars in the case, and appointed Public Defender Jim Harrell to represent McPherrin.

He'll be back in court Monday at 11 am.
