Freeze Turns Lake Storey Into Racetrack
This Sunday, those with snowmobiles in the area are invited to test their speed on Lake Storey.

The lake is currently frozen and will give interested parties a chance to have fun at the Radar Run while supporting a good cause.

Snowmobile riders can rest assured that the ice on Lake Storey will hold their weight. The ice was measured yesterday morning with a six inch thickness and should be more come Sunday.

Radar Run Organizer Pat Hennenfent says you only need four inches to hold the weight. He tells the WGIL morning news people come from all over the state to try it out.

"If anybody has driven by there in the last couple of days, when you look out across the lake, it almost looks open because it's so clear," says Hennenfent. "This is probably going to be the best ice we've ever had."

The Galesburg Search and Rescue Team will be on hand in case there are any accidents.

Registration for the Radar Run starts at 9:30 and goes until the early afternoon where collections for the food pantry will be collected.

The "speed runs" begin around 10:30 that morning and according to Hennenfent, the best soup in the world will be provided at the concessions.
