First Galesburg City Council Meeting of 2013 Monday Night
The Galesburg City Council hopes to get off to a fresh start in the new year after approval during the 2013 budget process proved frustrating.

Moinday night's meeting could bring the approval of Mayoral appointments as well as a freeze on historic site property tax assessments on the consent agenda.

The big news of the evening may be a resolution to hold a public hearing on the transfer of land from City owned property to the Galesburg Public Library.

The Library Board of Trustees readied their finances at last week's meeting for approval of the process. A public hearing would be held February 4th.

Aldermen are also expected to approve the collective bargaining agreement with Public Safety Employees after a standstill forced an arbitrator to come in.

An arbitrator agreed with the City's stance on wages, incentive pay, and personal days while taking the union's side with health insurance contributions.

Monday night's meeting begins at 6:30 inside council chambers at Galesburg City Hall.
