Planning For The Next Overpass
The Landmark Commission met Tuesday night and among the items on the agenda was the North Seminary/North Kellogg street overpass.

The Commission who's goal's to help with the preservation of Galesburg's historic sites wants to make sure the new overpass fits the decor of the surrounding area.

Associate Planner for the City Steve Gugliotta tells WGIL the commission was able agree on a few details they'd like to see.

"They were provided some photos of LED lighting, some options that were available and they looked through those and they finally decided on one they believe would really blend well in the historic district with the existing lighting as well as what's already on the existing bridge on West Main," says Gugliotta.

Gugliotta says the Commission is looking to blend the overpass into as much as the surrounding decor as they can.

He says one Commission member is even talking about the possibility of taking some of the brick from the homes that are being demolished to make way for the overpass and incorporating them into the design.

That, however, is just an idea and no final decision was made regarding the suggesting.
