Gathering Begins at NIU for Shooting Anniversary Commemoration
People are gathering at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb to remember the five people killed in a horrifying campus shooting spree one year ago.

Officials are planning a public memorial ceremony Saturday morning to mark the first anniversary of the shootings. The event will be followed by a day of activities, including a commemoration ceremony and candlelight vigil.

Gov. Pat Quinn will join NIU President John Peters in laying memorial wreath at the site of a planned memorial for those who died.

If you, or someone you know, is a Galesburg-area resident attending NIU, please consider contacting WGIL. E-MAIL WGIL NEWS HERE with a name and phone number, and we'll call you back.
