Burris: I Didn't Lie
U.S. Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) says a newly released affidavit about his contact with aides to ex-Gov. Rod Blagojevich was voluntary and not the result of contact from federal agents investigating the former governor.

He says any suggestion otherwise is "absolutely, positively not true."

Burris also insists the Feb. 5 affidavit doesn't go back on previous sworn statements to lawmakers who recommended impeachment of Blagojevich.

Burris spoke to reporters briefly this morning in Chicago. He didn't take questions. He is scheduled to deliver a speech to Democrats tonight in Peoria.

Over the weekend, the senator released the affidavit filed with the Illinois House impeachment committee. The affidavit adds to Burris statements to the committee regarding his contact with Blagojevich aides about appointment to the U.S. Senate.
