Woman Accused of Crashing Car Into House
The crash early Tuesday morning of a car that left the roadway and crashed into a house has landed a Galesburg woman in the Knox County Jail.

Police reports indicate officers arrested 26-year old Mandy Ramirez after her vehicle allegedly left the roadway near the 1000 block of East Knox Street, skidded sideways, struck a guy wire, a tree, and the front porch of a residence, before hitting a stop sign and coming to a stop partially on the grass and on the road near the corners of Knox and Pine streets.

Police say when they responded to the scene a little after midnight, they located Ramirez sitting in the front seat of the car, facing the rear seat. They say she was conscious but not very alert. Galesburg Fire Department officials had to use the jaws of life to remove the passenger door of the car to be able to extract the victim. She was taken by ambulance to a Galesburg hospital where early blood and urine tests allegedly showed that Ramirez had a blood-alcohol content over three times the legal limit and that she allegedly had cannabis, cocaine, and methamphetamine in her system.

She was treated and then released when police transported her to the Knox County Jail. Ramirez is being preliminarily charged with a number of offenses including DUI, no insurance, and no seatbelt.
