Burris Still on "Listening Tour"
Even though his time in Peoria made headlines U.S. Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) probably did not appreciate, he's leaving behind people who appreciate his Downstate "listening tour."

State Sen. Dave Koehler (D-Peoria) says he hopes for federal transportation and infrastructure projects: "We're looking this spring to start moving some dirt," he said.

Peoria businessman Pat Sullivan, whose restaurant hosted part of Burris' Peoria stop, agrees the road projects are important Downstate: "If Illinois' only going to get $1 billion or $2 billion, and Chicago's got $700 million [in projects] already shovel-ready, we've got to pick up the crumbs, I guess," he said.

Koehler adds, though, that Burris should have known what kind of scrutiny he'd receive after accepting the appointment to the Senate from then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
