Blago Pleads Not Guilty -- Again
CHICAGO (AP) -- Ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich sounded unusually combative today after pleading not guilty to a fresh batch of federal charges.

After entering his plea in federal court in Chicago, the Illinois Democrat told reporters: "Let me cut right to the chase, today I'm laying down the gauntlet."

Blagojevich says he won't hide behind his attorneys and he won't ask the judge to prevent jurors from hearing FBI tapes of his telephone conversations. But he challenged the government to play all of the tapes involved in his investigation.

Blagojevich had to enter his plea again after prosecutors revised the earlier indictment because the U.S. Supreme Court is reviewing one of the laws used in it.

The former governor told the judge he's pleading "innocent to each and every charge."

The case is slated to go to trial on June 3.
