Chicago Man Sues Claiming Salami Made Him Sick
CHICAGO (AP) -- A Chicago man's lawsuit claims salami containing tainted pepper made him sick.

Raymond Cirimele Cirimele sued three companies linked to a nationwide outbreak of salmonella in Cook County Circuit Court on Thursday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 225 people have been sickened, including 15 in Illinois.

The lawsuit claims Rhode Island meat company Daniele International, Wholesome Spice in New York and Mincing Overseas Spice Company in New Jersey failed to prevent the outbreak.

Daniele recalled more than 1 million pounds of salami last month. The company says it's changed its spice suppliers.

A Wholesome Spice spokesman says regulators cleared the plant for production. A phone message left Friday for the New Jersey company hasn't been returned.<
