Deadline Nears for Historic Preservation Awards
The Galesburg Landmark Commission is currently seeking nominations for its 2010 Historic Preservation Awards Program. The purpose of the program is to recognize individuals and businesses that have made contributions to the historical beauty of Galesburg.

Any property that is at least fifty years old and located in the city limits of Galesburg is eligible for nomination. All residential, commercial, public and religious buildings are eligible for consideration. Projects must be completed to be eligible for recognition. Property owners are encouraged to nominate their own property, however, nominations may be submitted by anyone. Any individual or group exhibiting significant local leadership or implementing a successful program in historic preservation is also eligible for recognition.

Nomination forms are available from the Community Development Department in Galesburg City Hall, or may be printed off from the City website at www.ci.galesburg.il.us. Nominations should be neatly written or typed and may include written, printed and photographic documentation as supporting evidence. Nomination forms are due to the Department no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 19, 2010. The GLC will review all nominations and provide the awards on the basis of historical correctness, difficulty of the project or efforts, and overall aesthetic contribution. The awards will be presented in May in coordination with National Historic Preservation Month.
