Congressman Looking Forward to Election Outcome
Congressman John Shimkus (R-Collinsville) feels confident for the statewide Republican ticket in Illinois. The deadline for collecting primary ballots is Tuesday and those last votes will determine who will be the victor between state Senators Bill Brady and Kirk Dillard in the race for governor.

Shimkus says whoever gets the nod, it will make for a geographically diverse ticket for the Republicans. He says that will make Republicans a strong contender in November.

Shimkus is not so optimistic about the upcoming session in Washington D.C. He says job creation will be the main focus but he doesn't agree with President Barack Obama's plan. Shimkus says even with Obama's proposed tax credits, business won't feel certain about the prospect of hiring people and creating jobs. He says the private sector needs more time to recover from the recession.
