Dillard, Brady Want Accurate Counts
Regardless of who may be ahead after Tuesday's deadline for local election authorities to count absentee ballots, both State Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) and State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) say an accurate count is a must.

The local election authorities now have until February 23rd to report their totals to the Illinois Board of Elections.

"We are still waiting to see what that [February 23rd] count is before determining our next course of action," Dillard said in a written statement. "The race for governor is a statewide election and we want the state board to give us its official number."

Meanwhile Brady agrees every vote must be counted. He says he respects Dillard's judgment in the matter. Asked what's in store for Dillard should Brady win the nomination, Brady says he still wants to see Dillard involved in state politics.

"He's a friend, colleague of mine," Brady said. "We've talked about various roles that he can play.”"

The Illinois Board of Elections has until March 5th to certify the election results.
