Brady or Dillard?
The GOP race for governor will be one for the record books. That's because it's not over! A mere 503 votes separate leader State Senator Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) and his colleague, Senator Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale). Counting resumes at 9 a.m. Wednesday, with 97 precincts left to count.

In third place is former Illinois Republican Party chairman Andy McKenna, who's about 8,000 votes behind Brady. Although a second-place finisher has to be within one-tenth of a percent of the first-place finisher to request a recount, McKenna hinted that he would do that, although the final count may not make that possible. Both Brady and Dillard say they're not yet thinking about the possibility of requesting a recount. They still expect to win.

Dillard went to the podium at about midnight at his party in Lombard, and exclaimed, "I'm still here!" Brady insists that he knew he could win with 20 percent of the vote.

Fourth-place finisher Jim Ryan, the former state attorney general, conceded, saying that once the final decision is made, the whole party needs to get behind the winner.
