Final Film in Journey Stories Series Among Upcoming Events at Monmouth College
Monmouth College will host three recurring events next week. All three programs -- a "Darwinpalooza" lecture, a Journey Stories film and a Great Decisions discussion -- are free and open to the public.

Members of the college's educational studies department will present a seminar on teaching Darwin in the public schools on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Barnes Electronic Classroom in Hewes Library. Their talk will help the college observe National Science Literacy Month.

The Journey Stories Film Series complements the traveling Smithsonian exhibit currently on display at the Buchanan Center for the Arts in Monmouth. The four-week series will conclude on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Dahl Chapel and Auditorium with "The Visitor." Described as a "deeply-moving drama," the film tells the story of a recently widowed college professor who discovers a pair of illegal aliens living in his New York apartment. Farhat Haq, professor of political science, will introduce the film and conduct a post-screening discussion.

On Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Tartan Room of the Stockdale Center, history professor Bill Urban will introduce the next Great Decisions topic, "Russia and Its Neighbors." Following his opening remarks, there will be approximately one hour of group discussion.
