Leaders Hope Google's Plan Plays in Peoria
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- If Google plans to play, Peoria's leaders figure the Internet giant might as well play in Peoria.

Google announced this month that it will build several experimental computer networks around the country for people to use to connect to the Internet at high speeds.

Peoria says it wants one.

City and county leaders Tuesday encouraged local people to log onto a Web site to send Google a message. The site is www.GooglePlaysInPeoria.com.

Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis says the old "Will it play in Peoria" line might give the town an built-in edge.
