Fairview Man Killed in Crash Near London Mills
POSTED 8:50 a-m 2/8/10 A Fairview man is dead following a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning in Knox County.

Troopers from Illinois State Police District 7 in East Moline identified the man who was killed as 22-year old Brandon Swise, who was driving. Officials say he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which authorities responded to just after 1 a.m. Sunday.

Police say a passenger in the vehicle, a black 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, who they identified as 22-year old Shawn Hilligoss of Maquon, was taken to OSF Saint Mary Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Troopers say his injuries are not believed to be serious.

Authorities say the car Swise was driving was eastbound in the 1200 block of Knox County Highway 29 near London Mills when he lost control and went off the left side of the road. The car struck an embankment and rolled over, ejecting both Swise and Hilligoss, and came to rest on its top.

Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash and neither man was wearing a seat belt. No arrests have been made at this time and troopers are still investigating.
