Former Local Official to Temporarily Run Peoria County
The former longtime head of the Knox County Health Department will get at least a temporary shot at running the day to day operations of a nearby county.

A statement from Peoria County says Greg Chance is being recommended as Interim County Administrator. The Peoria County Board will vote on that proposal at their meeting Thursday.

Chance was the administrator for the Knox County Health Department from its inception in 1993 until 2009.

He's been administrator of the Peoria City/County Health Department since 2009.
Chance, if approved, will work with outgoing Peoria County Administrator Patrick Urich, who is departing to become Peoria City Manager.

Chance, the County says, would receive three-thousand dollars a month to be an interim administrator, and the county will reimburse the Health Department roughly 65-hundred dollars a month as well during the period.

The Peoria County Board Thursday will also consider hiring a search firm to lead the search for permanent replacement for Urich.

Chance was replaced at the Knox County Health Department by Heidi Britton.
