Federal Charges in Local Meth Case
Four Galesburg residents arrested last month after a methamphetamine lab was allegedly found in their home now each face federal charges.

Records from U-S District Court in Peoria indicate 27 year old Chad Van Voltenburg, 23 year old Amy Van Voltenburg, 49 year old Christine Van Voltenburg, and 21 year old Ashley Wilson all face a single federal count each of Possession of Pseudoephedrine, a federal indictment alleges, knowing that it would be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

And, all four made appearance in federal court Wednesday.

The four were arrested initially January 21st after a search warrant was executed at a home in the 1000 block of Tamarind Drive in Galesburg. Police say they found the suspected meth lab, along with finished meth, meth-making materials, and two guns.

Local police officer Patrick Kistler testified to that in an affidavit filed in support of the arrests of the four.

Court records indicate Wilson has retained private counsel, Chad Van Voltenburg has been given a federal public defender, and the remaining Van Voltenburgs received attorneys appointed under the federal Criminal Justice Act.
