Local State Senator May Quit Early
One local Republican lawmaker is apparently frustrated his party can't get its way in Springfield, so he's ready to quit.

Peoria State Senator Dale Risinger, whose 37th District includes Knox County, says he likely won't seek another term, and isn't too keen on finishing his current term.

Risinger told the Peoria Journal-Star in a story published Saturday that he's frustrated with Democratic lawmakers whom he now accuses of looking to borrow $8 billion on top of the recently passed income tax increase as a means to balance the budget.

Risinger told the paper, quote, "It's time to think about maybe letting somebody else fight the battle," unquote.

Risinger was just elected to another term this past November, and was uncontested.
Risinger worked for 35 years as a district engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation and was first elected in 2002.

He told the Journal Star he likes to think he's been a, quote "voice of reason" for his district.

It's not clear who might replace Risinger if he does indeed quit early.
