Man Dies Due to Accident at Local Plant
A Galesburg man is dead due to an accident at a local manufacturer Saturday morning.

Galesburg Police reports indicate officers were called to Midstate Manufacturing on West Third Street just before 8:30 Saturday morning after 63-year old Walter Cassiday had fallen through the ceiling and suffered what officials described at the time as massive facial injuries.

Employees told officers according to reports that Cassiday had been working on lighting in the ceiling above a paint booth when he stepped off the catwalk, falling through a mesh ceiling, hitting his face on some metal down below.

Cassiday had been taken to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead after being sent to a Peoria hospital.

Peoria County Coroner's information is not available, but it's believed an autopsy will take place.
