Possible Attendance Calendar to be Presented to School Board Monday Night
Will students in the Galesburg School District get another month off around Christmastime, tried this year to save money on electrical bills? That could be made a little more clear tonight.

The District 205 Board this evening will hear from the district's calendar committee about what their tentative calendar for the 2011-2012 school year could look like.

That would be based on surveys made available to parents, staff, and students.
The district also expects to provide a calendar template that could be used in order to help next year's calendar.

As part of the district's budget cutting measure referred to as "Operation Program/Job Save," the district took essentially from Christmas to Martin Luther King Day off this school year, as an attempt to save money on energy costs, by not having to heat most district facilities outside of the district office, gyms, and some offices.

The District 205 Board tonight will also consider authorizing the notification of the issuance of the bonds that will pay for the first $30 million worth of work identified in the district's Master Facilities Plan, and they'll also look at applying for Qualified Zone Academy Bonds that will also pay for the work.

The Galesburg School Board meets at seven o'clock Monday night.
