Census 2010 Data Sent to Illinois Leaders
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- In a move which will have an impact on redistricting in Illinois, the U.S. Census Bureau says it has sent local data from the 2010 Census to Governor Pat Quinn and the leadership of the Illinois General Assembly.

Census officials say they shipped the data on Monday and plan a news release Tuesday afternoon of five custom tables for Illinois.

The data includes summaries of population totals, as well as information on race, Hispanic origin and voting age, broken down for multiple geographic divisions. Those divisions will include cities, counties, school districts and voting districts, as well as census blocks and tracts.

By law, the Census Bureau must provide the redistricting data to all 50 states by April 1 of the year following the census.
