Few Women are Car Dealers, but that Should Change says One Man
(IRN)-Car dealers should employ more women, an influential dealer says.

Kevin Mize, the chairman of the Chicago Auto Show and owner of Honda and Hyundai dealerships in Des Plaines, says though women are few at dealerships, they are successful.

"We're finding that the most successful sales people are women, and women make up 85-90 percent of the decision making anyway," he says.

A study five years ago found that of all car dealership employees nationwide, only 7 percent are women. Only 4 percent of new car salesmen are women, and only 2 percent of used car salesman.

Mize says those numbers are growing, but more are needed. He says customers like dealing with women, on the sales floor and at the service desk.

The Chicago Auto Show runs through Sunday.
