Still No Movement on Orpheum Energy Contract
An energy management contract for Galesburg's Orpheum Theatre is still not ready to begin.

Theatre president Kate Francis told the Knox County Civic Center Authority Board Wednesday attorney Doug Mustain is still working with Johnson Controls on the contract, which eventually could lead to the replacement of the theatre's deteriorating heating and air conditioning systems.

Francis says the contract the theatre received for the work leaves questions.

"They basically threw a general contract to us and that the language doesn't most accurately reflect how the relationship is structured and how Doug wants to see the language reflect in terms of what our statutory regulations are and in terms of relationships with contractors and all that."

No word yet on when that work on the contract will be complete.

Francis also told the board yesterday that there is increased attendance so far this year in the "Lights, Camera, Learn!" series of educational performances for local schools, and ticket sales are so far strong for the Red Carpet Series of shows, which begins next month.
