Former Elementary School Property Auctioned Off
Three parcels of land in Roseville used by the Monmouth-Roseville School District until they were closed due to budget cuts last year are now nearly in new hands.

That's after the Disrictg-238 School Board Wednesday night voted to accept a $20,000 bid from the Schisler Farm Trust for two of the three parcels around Roseville Elementary School -- both of which were used as playground space.

Board members last month voted to transfer the elementary school itself to the Village of Roseville for one dollar, though Superintendent Paul Woehlke tells WGIL that's not final yet, but he's glad that phase is nearly over.

"The transfer of the building is still in the process, we are still working through the legal proceedings for that, but that was certainly one of the district objectives; to no longer carry the burden and upkeep of maintenance of those properties. So this is the natural process of things."

The Village of Roseville has expressed an interest in using the elementary school as a community center, though details aren't final.

Woehlke calls the sale and transfer of all properties a "win-win" for the district and its taxpayers.
