Heart Walk Raises Money for CASA
Knox County's CASA organization, or Court-Appointed Special Advocates, held its annual Heart Walk Saturday at the Sandburg Mall.

The board president for the organization that helps at-risk children in the county, Crissy Lynch, tells WGIL where all the donations that are received actually go toward.

"A lot of it goes to the training of our advocates," Lynch said. "We do, of course, have to have some of that money to have our office, and we have an Executive Director and a very part-time staff person. So, a lot of it does go to training of the advocates. We do a in-services, too, do continued training, and we have a lot of reports we have to file with the state, and we have to have certain licenses that cost money."

Lynch says the organization had hoped to raise around $10,000 from the Heart Walk.

All told, officials say about $8,500, which they're pleased with, because it is higher than last year.
