Illinois Court Upholds Former Coach's Conviction
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- A state appellate court has upheld the sexual abuse conviction of former central Illinois high school teacher and coach.

Judges from the 3rd District Appellate Court on Friday ruled that 28 year old Steve Chromik received a fair trial when he was convicted in 2009 of sexually abusing a 16 year old who had been one of his students at Metamora Township High School. Metamora is about 12 miles east of Peoria.

Joel Brown is Chromik's attorney. He told the Journal Star in Peoria he would ask the judges to reconsider their decision.

Chromik is from Elk Grove.
He was sentenced to four years in prison after his conviction and is serving that sentence. With credit for time served before he was sentenced and good-time credit he is expected to be released in June.
