ESN Has Big Plans for 2011
The Entrepreneurial Support Network of the West Central Illinois is celebrating National Entrepreneurship Week.

The organization held a news conference Monday to kick off the week and Economic Development Director for the city of Galesburg Cesar Suarez outlined the annual report for the group.

He says the vision for the future includes three main areas...

"What would the community look like and what would it end up being, if we all practiced innovation and it was widespread in our community, imagine that, innovation for all of us. It is said that half of all GDP, gross domestic product, is as a result of innovation and so why not have that here locally. That last thing is, if we have the mind-set, which is entrepreneurial-ism and we practice innovation, what we should end up seeing is everyone in our entire community actually having growing markets going global and that's that last part is, how do we go global as well."

Those initiatives can come about Suarez says thanks mainly to a 1-point-2 million dollar grant awarded to the city and the Galesburg Business and Technology Center by the Economic Development Association last year.
