Suspect Pleads Not Guilty in Death of NIU Student
SYCAMORE, Ill. (AP) -- DeKalb County State's Attorney Clay Campbell now has 120 days to decide whether to seek the death penalty against a DeKalb man accused of killing Northern Illinois University student Antinette ``Toni'' Keller.

Thirty-four-year-old William Curl pleaded not guilty Tuesday when he was arraigned on counts of first-degree murder, concealing a homicidal death, arson and criminal sexual assault.

Keller disappeared Oct. 14, after telling friends she intended to take a walk in a park near the NIU campus. Burned remains were later found in the park, but it was not until January that DNA testing confirmed them as Keller's.

Curl was arrested Oct. 26 in Louisiana. He was returned to Illinois, and is being held in the DeKalb County Jail on $5 million bond.
