Moffit Will Stay in House
State Representative Don Moffitt has decided to stay right where he is.

Moffitt had been considering a potential run for the 37th district Senate seat vacated by retiring Dale Risinger.

Moffitt announced yesterday(Tuesday) he will be staying in the House of Representatives and tells WGIL, a lot went into that decision.

"I considered a number of factors. One is now I'm in my tenth term in the Illinois house, and I'm the fourth most senior Republican and twelfth in the entire house of one hundred and eighteen people in seniority in the house; which can benefit what you do for the district. I serve on JCAR or the Joint Committee on Administrative Rule; and that's a committee that plays an important role, in the governmental process. It's the one that after legislation is passed, it's JCAR that puts the real detail on legislation and try to get it implemented as it was intended."

Moffitt adds that had be moved to the Senate, not only would he become a freshman, but his replacement in the House would have been a freshman as well, leaving two freshman representing the area.
