Governor "Listening" to Cut Complaints
(IRN)-Governor Pat Quinn says there is an ongoing discussion about how to get through this fiscal year, and he is listening.

While he won't say specifically what he will cut to balance the budget, Quinn says there are "efficiencies" to be made in the area of social services.

"This is hard and difficult, we have to balance things," Quinn said. "I don't want to harm one area of important life in Illinois like human services but at the same time I have to maintain education and public safety. So it's something that I believe that really almost, day by day, we listen, you know, and have a balancing process to make sure we get through as best we can."

Quinn says it doesn't help that lawmakers handed him a lump sum budget and not a line item budget. He says it takes the "wisdom of Solomon" to make the tough decisions.

Aside from budget cuts, Quinn continues to push for a borrowing plan that he calls a restructuring of debt, in order to pay state vendors.
