New Mayor for Macomb
The primary elections Tuesday in McDonugh County had some clear winners, and some races that will be determined in April.

In Macomb, Michael Inman easily overcame two opponents for Mayor. Inman received 78 percent of the vote over Edward Lavin and D'Angelo Taylor.

Because Inman received at least 50 percent of the votes plus one more vote, he doesn't not need to worry about a run-off election in April, as he tells WGIL.

"We were able to avoid a run-off, there were a couple of alderman slots here that will be going into a run-off election, but we're good, we have a good amount of time between now and when we take office on May 2nd to get with the current Mayor, Mayor Mick Wisslead. He's assured us of a smooth transition from his administration into the next and we're looking forward to that."

As far as the alderman Inman mentioned, Louis Gilbert of Ward 3 and David Dorsett of Ward 5 won over opponents Aaron Fosdyck and Susan Tex respectively.

In Ward 4, however, a run-off election will occur between David Bosworth with 33 percent of the vote and Thomas Koch with 46 percent.

An alderman at large also will not be determined until the April elections. Christopher Zimmerman and Donald Wynn will battle for that position as the top two vote getters Tuesday.

Macomb residents also overwhelmingly voted in favor of a half cent sales tax hike to pay for city infrastructure improvements.
