No Gunfire in Chicago Until Snow Blower Incident
CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis says the city went 48 hours without any gunfire during this week's blizzard until someone tried to steal a snow blower.

Weis said at a Friday news conference that crime went down dramatically during a storm that socked Chicago with more than 20 inches of snow. Weis says there was one shooting that left a man injured when three people tried to steal his snow blower early Friday.

Meanwhile city officials say Chicago is recovering steadily from the blizzard. Schools are open and all of the city's main streets are plowed. City officials say most of the 3,300 miles of side streets have been plowed at least once. They say plows continue to work on side streets.
