Mitsubishi Will Build SUV at Normal Plant
NORMAL, Ill. (AP) -- Mitsubishi Motors North America says it will begin production of its new Outlander Sport SUV crossover at the company's plant in Normal in mid-2012.

Tokyo-based Mitsubishi started making the Outlander Sport late last year.

Company executives and Gov. Pat Quinn are in Normal on Friday to announce plans for the new vehicle along with an anticipated package of state incentives.

The plant employs 1,300 people. The facility's 1,100 union workers recently agreed to wage concessions that Mitsubishi said were necessary to stay open. Mitsubishi has said
the new model is part of its worldwide efforts to rejuvenate sales.

The four models now made at the plant will be phased over the next few years.
